AGRA: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) engineering students on Monday boycotted their pending examinations, which had been rescheduled twice after violence erupted in the campus on December 15.
All examinations had to end on December 23 of the current academic session, but due to the clash between police and students in the campus on December 15, it was postponed as the varsity authorities advanced the winter vacations.
The examinations were postponed again after the university reopened as protests by the students against the contentious CAA continued.
The students are also demanding the resignations of the VC and registrar, accusing them of failing to protect students on the ill-fated day. Registrar of the university, Abdul Hamid, said that they are trying to convince the agitated students to appear in the examinations as they are losing the academic year. He said, “Even if we cancel the summer vacations of 45 days, they will be late to complete the academic session”.
While protests against CAA/NRC/NPR by the students continued in the campus on Monday, students from faculty of Life Sciences and Commerce called a general body meeting on Tuesday to take a decision regarding boycott of examinations, which are scheduled to start from Thursday.
Meanwhile, all students have decided to storm twitter with a hashtag “#AMUVCmustResign” on Monday night.
