Active Covid-19 cases increase more in Ahmedabad’s west

AHMEDABAD: The western part of the city — made up of three of the city’s seven municipal zones, West, North West and South West — for the last four days has been accounting for more than 50% of the city’s active cases and is also accounting for the major chunk of new cases.

Officials said that the third greatest increase in active cases, 27, was from the South Zone which covers Jodhpur, Bopal, Sarkhej, Maktampura, Vejalpur and Sarkhej.
The officials said that the figure of 145 more active cases was after considering the discharges in this period. Officials said that city in the last four days reported 421 cases, with the majority from the western part of the city. Officials said the number of micro-containment zones was also higher in the western part of the city.

He said about 50% of fines for not wearing masks were imposed in the western part.
