AHMEDABAD: Cyber cell sleuths of city police on Thursday night arrested Mohammad Riyaz Shabbir Hussain of Godhra, for allegedly blackmailing a man after posing as a woman on social media and entrapping him. Hussain then began blackmailing the complainant with nudes of his. The complainant had paid Hussain Rs 46,010 through e-wallets, cash and gift vouchers.
Deputy commissioner of police, cyber cell, Rajdeepsinh Jhala, said they identified the accused through the IP address details provided by internet service providers.
Inspector V B Barad said that the accused has a diploma in pharmacy. He was fond of playing teen patti online and got in touch with the complainant while doing so.
After a while, the person behind a woman's ID asked the complainant for nude photos, which he provided.
The FIR states that the complainant, a 29-year-old man, soon started getting messages on social media saying that if he did not pay up, his nude pictures would be sent to his mother and sister.
"Hussain told us that he was fond of playing teen patti online. He made four fake social media IDs of women and extorted money from his victim, through 'play card' numbers and e-wallets," said Barad.
