Ahmedabad: Man allows minor to drive SUV, booked

AHMEDABAD: G Division traffic police on Sunday booked Surakshit Chavda, 33, a resident of Jyoti Residency in Naroda, for giving his SUV to a minor to drive. The teenager on February 3 crushed a 65-year-old unidentified woman near Naroda Patia Circle and fled the spot. She died at Civil Hospital.
Inspector A D Gamit of G Division traffic police station said an offence had been registered against an unknown driver at the time.“In their investigation, police got the registration number of the vehicle involved in the accident and found that it belonged to Chavda. The teenager worked for Chavda as a delivery worker. He said that Chavda had given him the SUV to deliver some jugs. There was another teenager in the vehicle when the accident took place. We also his statement in the presence of his parents. He told us the other teenager had caused the accident,” said a police source.
Inspector A D Gamit said that they have yet not arrested Chavda, but will serve him a notice to present himself at the police station.
