AHMEDABAD: A nurse from Rajkot, on Friday filed a complaint of a rape against a bank manager, who allegedly raped her multiple times on the promise of marriage and forced her to abort the pregnancy when she conceived.
The accused, Jayesh Rawat, 31, a resident of Sector 26 in Gandhinagar who works for a public sector bank, allegedly made the woman write a suicide note and ended their relationship.

In her FIR, the woman, 31, states that she came to know Rawat through social media in 2018 and they began chatting. They soon decided to marry, states the FIR.
The woman came to meet Rawat in Gandhinagar in October 2018 and when he found her alone at her relative’s home in Sola, he allegedly raped her saying they would be married soon.
She returned to Rajkot, where she works as a nurse and lives in government quarters. Rawat went there and raped her in December 2018. She alleged he had filmed the act on her mobile.
She stated that whenever she would ask about marriage, he would evade the question with various excuses. They were first supposed to get married on May 18, 2019, but Rawat told her it was very hot and they should postpone the wedding.
The complainant said that she conceived in October 2019 and when Rawat learned about it, he took her to a private hospital in Gandhinagar and forced her to undergo an abortion.

Rawat later told her that he would not marry her and when she protested, he threatened to publish their video. He also threatened to kill her family members if she insisted on getting married.
The woman then spoke to her family and approached Sola police with a complaint of rape and criminal intimidation.
