AHMEDABAD: A resident doctor at
Sola Civil Hospital, who is from Surat, was cheated of Rs 1.40 lakh by a cyber criminal cheat who duped her by promising her a voucher on her credit card.
Dr Pinal Vasani, 26, who stays at the PG hostel on the Sola Civil Hospital campus, in her FIR to Sola police stated that she is in the third semester of her MD course.
On Monday morning, when she was at her room, a woman called her and said she was calling from the credit card department of her bank and wanted to talk to Vasani about her credit card details.
After a while, Vasani received an OTP (one-time password) which she shared with the woman on her request. As soon as she provide her the OTP, Rs 1.40 lakh was deducted from her credit card.
Vasani called the police control room and later filed a complaint for cheating and breach of trust along with charges under the Information Technology Act.
