Barmer’s sodomy victim found in Ajmer’s Beawar

JAISALMER: Two days after a man filed a complaint that his brother was sodomised and has been missing, police on Saturday traced the victim in Ajmer’s Beawar.
The victim was taken for medical examination and the report is expected on Sunday. On inquiry, the victim told the cops that he was sodomised on January 29.
The complaint was lodged after a video of the incident surfaced on social media recently.
Barmer SP Sharad Chaudhary also suspended three policemen for dereliction of duty in Vishala Police Chauki in Barmer Rural. The SP said the accused Moti Singh himself had gone to the police chauki to lodge a complaint of theft and arson against the victim on February 4, but in-charge Hakam Singh refused to file a complaint. “A probe by the deputy SP has revealed that the FIR was not filed. We have suspended head constable Hakam Singh, constables Hema Ram and Harji Ram for dereliction of duty,” Chaudhary said.
“Moti Singh had taken the victim along with him to the police chauki on February 4, but the victim did not tell police that he was sodomised,” the SP said. However, the victim has denied of being involved in any theft.
According to the complaint, accused Moti Singh, Bharat Singh and Hinglaj Dan called the victim at a dhaba outside their village and thrashed him. He was forced to consume liquor and was sodomised by an iron rod.
Police also arrested the third accused Hinglaj Dan on Saturday. Jodhpur range IG Navjyoti Gogoi and IG (human rights) Vipin Kumar Pandey reached Barmer on Saturday and launched a probe. Police have lodged a case under IPC Sections 323, 342, 365, 384 and 34.
