4,658 Covid cases, 63 deaths in UP in 24 hours

LUCKNOW: The Covid tally for Uttar Pradesh reached 1,08,974 with 4,658 cases in the past 24 hours. According to officials, 46.2% (or 2,154) cases were reported from 10 big cities: Lucknow (664), Kanpur (447), Varanasi (281), Prayagraj (197), Bareilly (138), Gorakhpur (135), Gautam Budh Nagar (105), Ghaziabad (103), Meerut (50), Jhansi (34). Spikes were recorded in Azamgarh (132) Shahjahanpur (130), Deoria (104), Jaunpur (102), Ballia (94), Aligarh (92), Mathura (90) and Maharajganj (88).The number of active infections in the state reached 43,654.
Record 63 deaths in 24 hours: A record number of 63 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours taking the total to 1,918. As per the bulletin, 16 deaths were recorded in Jaunpurwhile 10 in Kanpur Nagar. Varanasi and Gorakhpur saw five and four deaths respectively. Bareilly, Ayodhya and Prayagraj saw three deaths each. In Jhansi, Unnao and Rae Barelitwo deaths each were reported. Lucknow, Meerut, Ballia, Agra, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Saharanpur, Basti, Pilibhit, Sultanpur, Mirzapur, Baghpat and lalitpur saw one death each. The state also saw 2,864 recover in the past 24 hour taking the total to 63,402.
