AMARAVATI: Making an amendment, the state government has converted the appointment of Aswani Lohani as Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) chairman into honorary post. While giving the cabinet rank status, the government has made the chairman post honorary in order to allow Lohani to stay put in the national capital. This would facilitate Lohani not visiting the state to take stock of the activities of the APTDC.

Lohani held several top ranking posts in his long career as bureaucrat including, former chairman of Air India, Railway Board and CMD of ITDC. “The post of chairman of Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) and the position will be honorary in nature with cabinet status. The tenure of the appointment is for a period of one year, from the date of assumption of charge,” said the government in an order issued on Thursday.
It further said that honorarium for chairing the board meetings shall be paid as per the APTDC policy and APTDC shall provide all the logistic support during his visit to the state.
