VIJAYAWADA: The chief ministers of the two Telugu states are likely to hold a virtual meet on August 5 to sort out inter-state water disputes.
Union Jal Sakthi Ministry had written to chief secretaries of the two states to find out the availability of the chief ministers for the proposed meeting. The apex council meeting with the two chief ministers, senior officials of the water resources ministries of the two states and the Union Minister for Jal Sakthi is to be held through a video conference.
The apex council chairman and Union Jal Sakthi minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat would chair the meeting.

The Telangana government had raised objections to the Rayalaseema lift irrigation schemes proposed by the AP government, including the increase of intake capacity of the Pothireddipadu head regulator. While the Telangana had raised objections to the AP’s project, the AP government had justified the projects refuting the TS charges of excess use of water.
