AMRITSAR/JAMMU: A junior commissioned officer (JCO) was killed on Sunday as Pakistan violated the ceasefire by initiating unprovoked firing along the LoC in Nowshera sector of J&K’s Rajouri district.
Naib Subedar Rajwinder Singh, of Sikh Light Infantry regiment, was critically injured after Pakistan troops initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation early on Sunday morning by using small arms at Kalsiyan, Khanger and Bhawani areas along the LoC in the Nowshera sector.
He later succumbed to his injuries.
A wave of grief swept across the historical village of Goindwal Sahib in Tarn Taran district after the news of the Naib Subedar’s martyrdom reached his family. He is survived by wife Manpreet Kaur (38), their children — son Jobanjit Singh (16) and daughters Pawandeep Kaur (15) and Akshjot Kaur (10 ) — and his septuagenarian mother Balwinder Kaur.

His father Jagir Singh, who too was a soldier in the Army, passed away about two years ago. His brother, Sukhwinder Singh had served in the Army but died in a road accident in 2009.
