Punjab: Unaided colleges urge welfare minister to release Rs 309 crore of PMS

A delegation of Joint Action Committee (JAC) representing over 1600 unaided colleges of Punjab on Thursday met Punjab social welfare minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot. The delegation urged the minister to immediately release Rs 309 crore of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) funds.

BATHINDA: A delegation of Joint Action Committee (JAC) representing over 1600 unaided colleges of Punjab on Thursday met Punjab social welfare minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot. The delegation urged the minister to immediately release Rs 309 crore of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) funds.
Director, JAC & President, Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA), Anshu Kataria; Director, JAC & ETT Federation, Nirmal Singh; PUCA office bearers including Ashwani Garg, Ashok Garg, Gurkirat Singh met the minister.

Minister while giving patient hearing assured that state government has received the Rs 309 crore of 2016-17 from the union government and soon it will be disbursed to the colleges.
It is to be mentioned that out of total outstanding of Rs 1850 crore the union government has released Rs 309 crore of Punjab under PMS recently.
