AMRITSAR: A gang of robbers made off with nearly Rs 8 lakh at gunpoint from Punjab and Sindh Bank in Chajjalwandi here on Saturday.
Bank’s zonal manager R P S Sandhu told the police that around 1pm 5 to 6 robbers came in an SUV and took hold of the security guard and snatched his rifle. They barged into the manager’s cabin and fired a shot in the air. He added that the robbers took Rs 7.83 lakh from the cashier, the DVR of CCTV cameras and internet connectivity router before fleeing.
Denying that shots were fired, investigating officer Paramjit Singh said five to six unknown persons took away the cash.
“They have taken the DVRs of the bank, but we are trying to identify them using the CCTV footage of the cameras installed on the road,” he said.
