Bengaluru man held for stealing from dead friend

A 42-year-old man was arrested for stealing gold ornaments, a mobile phone and other valuables from a 56-year-old financier who was found dead at a burial ground near Jinke Park, Kempegowda Nagar.

BENGALURU: A 42-year-old man was arrested for stealing gold ornaments, a mobile phone and other valuables from a 56-year-old financier who was found dead at a burial ground near Jinke Park, Kempegowda Nagar.
The accused, Ramu M, 42, a resident of Magadi Road, was a distant relative and friend of Anand A from New Binnypet. Anand was found dead on November 6 and a case of suspicious death was registered.

Anand's son Charles A told police that gold ornaments and other valuables on his father's person were missing. "Preliminary investigation revealed some miscreants had taken away his gold chain with a pendant, a ring weighing 72 grams, mobile phone and bank cheque of Rs 5 lakh," a police officer said.
"We arrested Ramu and recovered the stolen items from him. Ramu said he and Anand were sitting in the burial ground when the later collapsed and died," a cop said.
