BENGALURU: Seven people, including three juveniles, were on Thursday arrested for allegedly murdering a 20-year-old rowdy-sheeter following a recent fight over drinking water.
The arrested — Suman K, 28 of Modi Road, Dinakaran alias Dina, 21 of Amavasyenagar, Ranjeeth J, 19 of Doddanna Garden and Ranjeeth Kumar, 19 of Tangamainagar in DJ Halli, and three juveniles aged about 17 — took Suresh C, 20 of Kaval Byrasandra for a party at Byrathi Bande near Kothanur.
They then hacked him to death and fled from the spot.
Confessing to the crime, the accused told Kothanur police that Suman’s family members recently had a fight with their neighbours on Modi Road over fetching water from a public tap. Suresh, a local rowdy, supported Suman’s neighbours.
Suman and his family members assaulted Suresh. Later, Suresh began telling everyone that he would eliminate Suman and his kin. Suresh had also assaulted Dinakaran, another accused, for no reason. Suman and Dinakaran joined hands and planned to eliminate Suresh, police said.
The gang members invited Suresh for a party on Sunday in Byrathi Bande. They partied till late night and hacked Suresh to death before escaping. Passersby spotted his body the next morning and alerted police.
