BENGALURU: The Karnataka high court on Tuesday directed the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to specify the outer limit by which the ongoing desilting works will be completed and bunds constructed within the Bellandur lake will be removed.
A division bench headed by chief justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka gave this direction after the BDA submitted that at least one year time is required for completion of works in Bellandur lake spread over 916 acres.

However, the court was not satisfied with the said response and directed the BDA to submit a specific time frame through a competent officer for completion of works .
The court is hearing a PIL filed by Geetha Misra, a city based advocate. She has sought for maintenance of these water bodies which are now near clean, the positive effect of lockdown. In addition, she had complained against construction of bunds within the lake area.
