BENGALURU: Former chief minister
HD Kumaraswamy has always been a favourite of meme makers. The JD(S) leader, whose 'Nikhil Yelidiyappa' triggered a slew of memes during the
2019 Lok Sabha polls, is now trending for his recent 'mini mini powder' remark.
At a press conference soon after
Aditya Rao was arrested after he surrendered claiming he had planted explosive material near the Mangalore International Airport on January 20, Kumaraswamy said it wasn't a bomb, but firecrackers.
"It was not a bomb. It was a cracker which had a mini mini (glittery or sparkling) powder,'' he said.
This triggered catchy one-liners, jokes and memes. One meme shows Kumaraswamy calling his son, 'Nikhil,
yellidiyappa?' (Nikhil, where are you?) and the latter responding: "Appa, Illi Mini Mini powdru Achathaidini pa (Dad, I am here and applying mini mini talc powder)".
This was first enacted by the organisers at the music launch of Nikhil's debut movie 'Jaguar' in 2016, but it became a social media sensation and sparked a dozen memes after he announced his decision to contest from Mandya LS seat last year.
Some seized the chance to mock Kumaraswamy "What is the secret of your beauty," someone asks
Radhika Kumarswamy, a Sandalwood star. She sheepishly answers, "It's Mini Mini powder!"
Another meme doing the rounds is: 'Eureka!, Kumaraswamy has discovered mini mini powder used in the making of bomb.'
Meme-makers have also devised a quiz around 'mini mini powder' and pictures of a new beauty talc called 'Mini Mini powder'.
