BHUBANESWAR: Aspirants of Joint Entrance Examination (
JEE) Main and National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) in Odisha heaved a sigh of relief after Union HRD minister
Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank on Tuesday announced dates for the examinations in July.
The dates for the pending examinations of Class X and XII boards will be announced soon, he said.
"We were anxious after the examinations were postponed.
But now with the announcement, we can now concentrate on the preparations," said Chinmay Mallick, a JEE-Main aspirant.
Earlier, the examinations were scheduled in May end. Since the lockdown started on March 22 due to the outbreak of coronavirus, coaching classes have been stopped and classes are being held online.
Many students who went to bigger cities for coaching have started returning home and will prepare for the examination at home.
"Though we are attending online classes, there has been
lots of anxiety and
stress due to the emerging situation. Lots of thoughts disturb and one can hardly concentrate. So it is better we get around two months to prepare," said
Tushar Sahu, another student.
The engineering applicants have to appear two JEE Main examinations and the higher score between the two will be considered as the final score.
The first JEE-Main was conducted in January this year. The dates for JEE-Advance examination will be announced later.
