Chandigarh: Stalker gropes journalist, tries to assault her

A journalist taking a morning walk was allegedly sexually assaulted at PN Mehra Botanical Garden near Panjab University (PU) in Sector 14 on Monday.
The woman fought back, forcing the accused to flee. In her complaint, the woman said the man had approached her at the park two days back, seeking her mobile number. He left after she snubbed him. At 7.30am on Monday, the accused crept up to her from rear and groped her, the complaint alleged.The woman resisted and as a result both fell on the ground. The journalist said when she threatened to click his photograph and give it to the police, the accused ran away.
Police registered a case under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A (making sexually coloured remarks), 354-D (punishment for stalking) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC.
