PATIALA: The authorities have seized two mobile phones and contraband from an inmate at
Patiala Central Jail. The accused identified as Rohit Kumar, a resident of
Gurdaspur was booked under sections of the
Prison Act. The case against inmate was filed after the jail authorities seized a bundle of cigarette packs, narcotic tablets and intoxicating material hidden in his cell.
While checking the CCTVsinstalled atthe premises, the authorities noticed the accused picking up a packet from the premises.
Upon checking, the accused was found to be in possession of a mobile phone,earphones and contraband. A case was registeredunder Sections20/61/85 of the NDPS Act and Section 52 A, Section 42 of the Prisons Act at Tripuri police station. The case was registered on the complaint of deputy superintendent Lal Singh.
“The jail authorities recovered two mobile phones, charger, earphones, narcotic tablets, narcotic powder and cigarette packets from the possession of the accused. We have booked him under relevant sections and initiatedfurther probe,said SHOof the police station.
