Patiala man hurt in firing, Rs 25,000 snatched

A resident of Sanour in Patiala district, Jarnail Singh, who sells vegetable in Ambala vegetable market, was shot at by three miscreants on NH-44, who snatched Rs 25,000 from him late on Monday.

AMBALA: A resident of Sanour in Patiala district, Jarnail Singh, who sells vegetable in Ambala vegetable market, was shot at by three miscreants on NH-44, who snatched Rs 25,000 from him late on Monday.
While fleeing the spot, miscreants shot at Jarnail, who received multiple bullet injuries on both legs.
He called the police, which rushed him to the civil hospital, Ambala City, from where the doctors referred him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh.

As per the information, Jarnail was returning home in his vehicle, along with his son Navjot Singh, when a car forcibly stopped him on GT road and three miscreants committed the crime.
Jarnail stated to the police, "On Monday, I came to Ambala to sell tomatoes from my village and at 10.30pm, after completing my work ,I, along with my son Navjot, was driving back home. When I reached outside the New Vegetable Market gate in Ambala City on GT Road, a car came from the front side and three persons alighted from the vehicle. Two of them were armed with pistols, while one was armed with a rod and they asked me to give whatever I had with me. I gave them Rs 25,000."

"One of them fired a shot at me and the bullet hit me in my right thigh. The other fired a bullet, which hit my ankle of the left leg while another hit me near my right knee. The age group of accused was between 25-30 years. In dark I could only note down the number of their vehicle as HR14 and the remaining number I could note was 788," he added.
On this complaint, a case against three miscreants under Section 25-54-59 (punishment for certain offences and renewal of licences) and 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Ambala City police station on Monday.
"The condition of Jarnail is stable and he was referred to GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, from where he has shifted himself to a private hospital over there," said inspector Ram Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Ambala City police station.
