Patiala police confiscates 3 canters, 2720 illegal liquor boxes

PATIALA: In a major haul of recovery, the police in Patiala claimed to have confiscated 3 trucks of illegal liquor during checking from different spots. The police worked in a tandem with the excise officials in Patiala to recover the illegal liquor.
The police claimed that around 2720 boxes of illegal liquor were recovered from the accused truck drivers and they were arrested from the spot.
The excise officials claimed that their teams had a tip-off regarding the illegal liquor being supplied following which the checking was carried out.
The excise officials said that the accused are identified as Malak Singh of Uttar Pradesh, Gurjant Singh of UP and Dalbir Singh of Gurdaspur and all of them were booked under sections 78 (2) of Excise act.
The excise officials revealed that accused Malak Singh was nabbed at check-point on Patiala by-pass road and around 1150 illegal liquor boxes were recovered from his canter and registered case at Urban estate police station. Similarly, accused Gurjant was nabbed near Jaudian roads along with 710 illegal boxes of ‘Blue Mood’ brand liquor meant for sale in Arunachal Pardesh. The police have confiscated Gurjant’s canter and registered case at Sanaur Police station in Patiala.
Similarly, Dalbir Singh of Gurdaspur was nabbed with 860 illegal boxes of quarterly liquor during checking near Shekhupura village and confiscated the canter . The case against the accused has been registered at Sadar Patiala police station.
