Patiala: Students' unions protest against Delhi riots; raise demand to arrest BJP leader Kapil Mishra
The student bodies including AISF, PSU (Lalkar), SFI, PRSU, PSU and DSO gave a call to the students and went into the classes to urge them join the protest
PATIALA: A large number of students under various student bodies staged a protest in Punjabi UniversityPatiala against the Delhi riots and alleged that these riots were backed by BJP and RSS. The students alleged that the administration and the police played a negative role by failing to curb the violence.
The student bodies including AISF, PSU (Lalkar), SFI, PRSU, PSU and DSO gave a call to the students and went into the classes to urge them join the protest.
The students then staged a protest at the university gate and later near the VC office in the university terming the violence in Delhi as ‘government-oriented riots’ in the country’s capital.
The student leaders while addressing the gathering said that it was well-planned violence projected by the central government and the RSS that had first provoked the masses to come forward in favour of the CAA and NRC and counter the protesters who were protesting peacefully against the CAA and NRC. The student leaders alleged that CAA and NRC were brought only to make a communal divide in the country.
They said that BJP leader Kapil Mishra had also provoked violence by giving provoking statements and was heading the gang of hooligans who have been prepared to commit the violence against another community.
Rashpinder Jimmi, PRSU student leader, said, “We staged protest against the violence or riots that was projected by the incumbent central government and RSS that wants to create a communal divide in the nation. A protest march was also carried out on this matter by the students who raised the demand to arrest BJP leader Kapil Mishra seen in the videos for provoking the mob for violence. The riots were being imposed in Delhi in a well-planned manner and the like-minded people should come forward to counter this agenda. We will not let repeat 1984 or 2002 and we are against the communal politics. The government-sponsored riots are meant to the genocide of a community.”
