CHANDIGARH: After nearly 7.5 hours of "extremely complicated" surgery, a team of doctors at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh successfully "re-implanted" Punjab Police assistant sub-inspector Harjit Singh's left hand that was chopped off in a clash with Nihang Sikhs in Patiala.
The ASI's hand was severed with a sharp weapon, suspected to be a sword.
Three other policemen and a mandi official also sustained injuries when the group of Nihangs attacked them after being asked to show curfew passes at a vegetable market in Patiala district on Sunday morning.
