The police have booked a travel agent of Patiala for allegedly duping a resident on the pretext of sending him abroad.

PATIALA: The police have booked a travel agent of Patiala for allegedly duping a resident on the pretext of sending him abroad.
The accused was running his travel agency at Leela Bhawan in Patiala, which is known as a hub of travel agents in the city.
The complainant is a resident of Laadbanjara village of Sangrur district.
The complainant, Darshanpal Singh, alleged that the accused, Ishan Sharma, had taken Rs 2.6 lakh from him and promised to send his son Paramjit Singh abroad.
He alleged that his son Paramjit also completed basic qualification that the accused agent told them as per requirement. The complainant further alleged that besides paying the amount to the travel agent, they had spent money on documentation as well.
The police said the accused was on the run and hunt was on to nab him.
The police said a case under relevant sections of the IPC, including cheating, was registered against the accused.
The police said the complainant claimed that the accused travel agent had returned them Rs 1.25 lakh but did not return the remaining amount despite repeated requests.
