Yamunanagar: 26 shopkeepers issued challans, three booked for violating Covid-19 norms

The teams of Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation (MC) in a drive to check the violation of Covid-19 norms, issued challans to 26 shopkeepers and also lodged a police complaint against three of them on Wednesday.

YAMUNANAGAR: The teams of Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation (MC) in a drive to check the violation of Covid-19 norms, issued challans to 26 shopkeepers and also lodged a police complaint against three of them on Wednesday.
Following the spread of Covid-19 and positive cases coming to light on a regular interval, the MC teams decided to check the market places.
A Yamunanagar MC officer said, “During a surprise inspection, 26 shopkeepers, who were not wearing masks and were found violating the Covid-19 norms were issued challans.
Three shopkeepers confronted the MC officials, and a case was registered under Section 188 (disobedience) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the city police station.”
On the instructions of Yamunanagar MC commissioner Dharamvir Singh, the teams were formed under the leadership of regional taxation officer (RTO) Ajay Walia.
