An autorickshaw driver was found dead near Heavy Vehicles Factory at Avadi here in the early hours of Tuesday with his head smashed. The body bore stab injuries too.

CHENNAI: An autorickshaw driver was found dead near Heavy Vehicles Factory at Avadi here in the early hours of Tuesday with his head smashed. The body bore stab injuries too.
The murdered man has been identified as Rajesh alias Bhujji, 36, of Poompozhil Nagar in Avadi.
Bhujji left home around 9.30pm on Monday night after he received a call on his mobile phone. As he had not returned home till late at night, Rajesh’s mother, Nagarani, and other family members searched for him.
His mobile phone remained switched off.
They lodged a complaint with the Avadi Tank Factory police. The police discovered Rajesh’s body from near a meat shop owned by his family members.
The police suspect that the man might have been murdered elsewhere and the body was dumped near the meat shop later.
Inquiries revealed that Rajesh went to a Tasmac liquor shop at Kovilpadhagai on Monday evening. Some people heard him shouting at someone over his mobile phone. The police have sought his phone call details to trace the suspect.
The police registered a case.
