CHENNAI: The
Tamil Nadu government has invited
applications from
Christians for
financial assistance for
pilgrimage to Israel, Egypt and Jordan.
In a press release, Chennai district collector R Seethalakshmi said that 600 Christians hailing from Tamil Nadu can benefit from the scheme, of which priority would be given to 50 nuns. Each beneficiary would get a financial assistance of Rs 20,000 under the scheme.
Those availing the financial assistance can travel to Israel, Egypt and Jordan covering places such as Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth and Jordan River for a period of ten days.
While applications are available at Chennai collectorate, it can be downloaded from www.bcmbcmw.tn.gov.in.
All filled in applications should reach the directorate of minorities welfare at Chepauk in Chennai by February 28, the press release added.
