Sathankulam custodial deaths: Madras high court directs CBI to file counter to accused cop's bail plea
S Sridhar
MADURAI: The Madras high court on Thursday directed the CBI to file a counter to the bail plea of suspended Sathankulam inspector S Sridhar who was arrested in connection with the custodial deaths of P Jeyaraj and his son, J Beniks.
After the CBI sought time to file counter, Justice V Bharathidasan adjourned the case to a further date for hearing.
It may be recalled that suspended policemen - head constables S Murugan and X Thomas Francis and constable Muthuraj -- moved the HC in August seeking bail.
Since the court said bail could not be granted to the petitioners during “this stage of investigation,” the petitioners withdrew their petition.
