Sri Lankan navy detains 11 Indian fishermen

The Sri Lankan navy on Saturday night detained 11 fishermen hailing from Pudukkottai district in Tamil Nadu for fishing in the territorial waters of the island nation. The navy seized three trawlers of the fishermen.

TRICHY: The Sri Lankan navy on Saturday night detained 11 fishermen hailing from Pudukkottai district in Tamil Nadu for fishing in the territorial waters of the island nation. The navy seized three trawlers of the fishermen.
The detained fishermen have been identified as Chinnapandy, 60, his son C Manikandan, 23, and Antony, 55, (all from of Kottaipattinam in Pudukkottai district) and Mariyappan, his son Sakthibalan, Sivalingam, Rajaguru, Krishnamoorthy, Dhanapal, Mariyappan and Muthukumar (all from Jegathapattinam).

They were fishing in the sea off of Analathivu island when the Sri Lankan navy nabbed them.
The fishermen were taken to the Northern Naval Command. Later, they were handed over to assistant director of fisheries in Jaffna.
