Three TN medical medical aspirants commit suicide on NEET eve
CHENNAI: Three students preparing for NEET ended their lives in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, on the eve of the exam.
The deceased have been identified as Jothi Sri Durga, 19, of Madurai, M Aadithya of Illakiyampatty in Dharmapuri district and M Mothilal, 21, of Tiruchengode in Namakkal district.
Jothi Sri Durga ended her life by hanging in her home in Madurai in the early hours of Saturday. The medical aspirant was attending coaching classes to prepare for her second NEET attempt.
In her suicide note, Durga mentioned that she would disappoint her family members and others if she did not get a medical seat.
Her father, Murugasundaram, is a sub-inspector attached to 6th battalion police. Police sources said she studied for the exam on Saturday night as well. Later she went to sleep.
After everyone in the house slept, she woke up and hanged herself in the hall.
Like Durga, Aadithya was preparing for NEET for the second time. His suicide came to light around 6pm when his parents -- Manivannan, 47 and Jayachitra, 40 -- returned home from Poosaripatty in Salem district. They found the main door closed from inside. They peeped through the window gaps and found their son hanging from the ceiling.
They alerted the Dharmapuri town police. The police rushed to the spot and retrieved the body.

When contacted by TOI, Dharmapuri police superintendent of police Pravesh Kumar said he was interacting with Manivannan and Jayachitra to get the exact reason for the youth’s death. “The reason for Aadithya’s extreme decision will be ascertained only after inquiry,” he said.
Mothilal too committed suicide by hanging at home.
