Coimbatore college girl murder: Man arrested from relatives’ home in Kerala

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore district police on Monday morning arrested C Ratheesh, 24, for murdering a college girl whom he loved.
The police arrested Ratheesh from his relatives’ home in Thrissur in Kerala. Ratheesh is a mechanic.
Ratheesh fell in love with S Aishwarya, 18 of Arumuga Goundanur. The girl was a first year B Com student at a college in Perur. The girl's father, M Sakthivel, 42, is a milk vendor.

Ratheesh and Aishwarya belonged to different communities. The family members of the girl came to know about their love affair in March and warned her not to talk to Ratheesh. She stopped speaking to him.
Around 8.30pm on Friday, Ratheesh went to the girl's house. He asked her to come out of the house and to speak to him. She came out of her home with her father.
Ratheesh took a knife and stabbed on her chest and abdomen. When Sakthivel tried to save his daughter, he suffered injuries on his both hands. The neighbours tried to catch Ratheesh. However, he managed to flee.
The girl and her father were rushed to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital where she died around 11am on Saturday.
Ratheesh had gone to his relatives’ home in Kerala through a forest route without e-pass, police said.
The Perur police, who registered a murder case, were investigating.
