NEW DELHI: A 57-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide at her residence in Lutyens’ Delhi on Monday afternoon. The body of Natasha Kapur, the wife of the joint president of Atlas Cycles, was reportedly found hanging from the ceiling fan at her house in Aurangzeb Lane by her family members. Her husband, Sanjay, was not at home at the time.
In a suicide note purportedly written by Kapur, she said that she loved her children and asked them to take care of themselves and Sanjay.

The incident was reported to police around 2.30pm. Kapur’s son, Sidhanth, told police that he had called her several times to ask her to come down to the dining hall for lunch. When she didn’t respond, he went up to her first floor room to check. He found the door partially open and entered. He then went to the bathroom and found her body hanging from the ceiling fan with a piece of cloth. He cut the cloth, brought down the body and carried it to the bedroom.
Sidhanth then informed the other family members and police. Kapur was taken to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where she was declared dead. The autopsy was conducted at RML Hospital on Wednesday afternoon after which the body was handed over to the family members.
DCP (New Delhi) Eish Singhal said that inquest proceedings have been initiated to find out the reason behind the alleged suicide. A forensic team would be verifying the handwriting and content of the note. It is also being probed whether she suffered from depression.
Police have recovered her mobile phone from which she had sent some messages to a number asking for money transfer the same day. They will question the family members about the phone number and their last conversation with her after the last rites. The cops will also be seeking her medical history.
