NEW DELHI: CM Arvind Kejriwal has asked the health department to submit a detailed analytical report about the factors responsible for deaths due to Covid-19 in the past 15 days and submit plans to bring down the mortality rate.
Delhi government in a statement said the death rate had seen a sharp decline since June. The highest number of deaths on a single day was 120 in the first week of June, which was now down to 50.
“The measures taken by Delhi government, such as increase in the number of ICU beds in hospitals, installation of more oxygen beds, plasma bank, etc, have reduced the death rate and positivity ratio. To bring the death rate to zero, Delhi government will prepare further steps to be taken after obtaining a detailed analysis of the Covid-19 deaths,” an official said.
“Since there is no vaccine for the novel coronavirus, it will be extremely difficult for the authorities to bring down the mortality rate to zero. However, many countries have reduced mortality with proper patient care and facility management. The same strategy is being followed by Delhi government,” said a source.
