MARGAO: BJP state president Sadanand Tanavade on Wednesday said the party would win both—Fatorda and Margao—assembly seats which are currently with the opposition in the 2022 assembly elections.
“We will definitely win Fatorda constituency. Margao too will be in our kitty, and we will start working towards that soon,” Tanavade told reporters during his first visit to the party’s South Goa office in Margao after taking over the reins of the party earlier this week.

Squashing speculations about Margao MLA Digambar Kamat joining BJP, Tanavade said, “It’s a misfortune of Congress that its president has no trust in his own MLA.” He was alluding to the recent statement by state Congress president Girish Chodankar to the effect that BJP was attempting to induct Kamat into the saffron party.
“This isn’t an issue in the party. There hasn’t been a discussion regarding any such thing in the party. We have 27 MLAs, we are safe and enjoy a comfortable majority; we don’t need to induct anybody,” Tanavade said.
Referring to Kamat’s ongoing door-to-door campaign, Tanavade said, “He has become insecure, and therefore he is going door-to-door. He is in confusion.”
He added that the party’s aim would be to come to power on its own strength with absolute majority in the 2022 polls. Asked about the party’s preparation for the zilla panchayat elections which are likely to be held in March, Tanavade said that while BJP would win the ZP polls, the party wouldn’t turn it into a “prestige” issue.
“Our aim is to win the 2022 assembly elections,” he said.
Replying to a query, Tanavade said a mechanism would soon be put in place to ensure that all ministers and officers interact with party workers at BJP offices.
NRI commissioner Narendra Sawaikar and BJP general secretary Damodar Naik were also present.
