Clearing property tax, other dues a must before registry

Clearing property tax, other dues a must before registry
Gurgaon: If you are planning to sell a property, make sure all your civic taxes and development charges are paid. Under the new registry regime, apart from getting a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the department of town and country planning (DTCP), a seller will also need a ‘no dues’ certificate from the civic body concerned in order to get an appointment for registering the property in urban areas.

For this, the urban local bodies department launched a new software — No Dues Certificate Management System — on Monday, wherein people can get details of their property and any dues, and make payments online.
The new system has details of each property in urban areas and details of dues, if any, including pending property tax, development charges, fire tax, sewerage, water and solid waste charges.
“One will get a ‘no dues’ certificate only after clearing all these dues,” MCG commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh said.
A team from the civic body concerned will be deployed at each tehsil office in the state to help people who are not comfortable with the online portal and help them in finding property details and making payments. The new system has been launched to plug in the loopholes in the registry system and ensure sellers get all the NOCs and clearances required before execution of registry.
The new system will also help in revenue collection as people will now have to clear all their property-related dues and can get updates about dues at a click of a button.
