DCP (traffic) Chander Mohan, who is also holding charge of additional CEO (mobility) of GMDA, told TOI that a special team has been formed for the monsoon and they will work in coordination with the civic agencies. “After rain, the team will identify areas facing waterlogging issue with the help of CCTV network of ICCC and alert traffic cops and civic agencies,” Mohan said, adding that immediate action will be taken to fix the problem.
The spell of rain in the past weeks had caused waterlogging in certain areas like Narsinghpur, Gold Souk, Medanta, Mayfield Garden and near Dundahera foot overbridge. In some places, waterlogging was caused due to sewage overflow while in some places there were issues related to broken roads. The problems were fixed to avoid waterlogging.
The DCP said eight water pumps have been installed at Subash Chowk, South City, Vatika Chowk, Jawal Mill, Narsinghpur and Bilaspur. Additional water pumps are in standby. Along with this, traffic cops have been given 12 recovery vehicles and one crane to remove vehicles stuck on the roads. “Traffic cops in all the areas have been provided ropes and necessary items so they can take immediate action to resolve small issues without waiting for the crane,” the DCP said.
