Give some relief to parents on fees, government urged
Gurgaon: Calling the education sector a major casualty of Covid-induced lockdown, the state chapter of Federation of Private Schools Association (FPSA) launched a 51-day Save Education Campaign via an online platform on Sunday.
The campaign, which seeks immediate relief for parents, schools and teachers who are grappling with economic meltdown, will conclude on September 17.

FPSA president Kulbhushan Sharma said that the current economic crisis has revealed the inherent class struggle.
“Lower and middle income groups are the worst affected now. Parents are grappling with job losses, salary cuts, and collapse of their businesses. Thus, they are incapable of paying school fees. Some teachers and staff members have also lost jobs. Our campaign will draw the attention of decision-makers to these problems,” he said.
While parents, teachers, and school management have been voicing their concerns for past few months, but in some cases they are at loggerheads. Sharma said that through this initiave they aim to unite them.
The federation aims to present three demands through the campaign. First, monetary relief to the parents who have been forced to pull their wards out of schools owing to financial crunch, secondly, all teachers who have lost their jobs should either get a severance package or moratorium until the situation stabilizes and thirdly, all the budget schools that have either closed down or are on the verge of shutting down their operations should be granted easy loans.
