KURUKSHETRA: The Kurukshetra police arrested four accused family members of a 17-year-old girl on Tuesday who allegedly forced her into the flesh trade and extorted money from those making physical relations with her.
Arrested accused include the girl's father, two uncles and a cousin, all residents of Kurukshetra district told district superintendent of police (SP) Astha Modi.

All four accused were presented in the Kurukshetra court on Wednesday, which granted their two-day police remand said SP Astha.
As per the information, on June 15, 2020, a resident of Kurukshetra district lodged a complaint at Kurukshetra University (KU) police station.
The complainant stated to the police, “I had sent my 17-year-old daughter to my brother’s place in Kurukshetra. When on June 14, I went to my brother’s home to meet my daughter, I came to know that she left his home without informing anyone. It came to light that the girl fled away with someone on the pretext of marriage. Earlier she had fled from the Child Care Institution in Ladwa too. Accused who took the girl had earlier threatened us that if we said anything to the girl, then he would kill us.”

After registering a case in this matter, the police started the investigation.
SP Astha said, “However, during the investigation, some surprising facts came to light that the girl was being forced into the flesh trade by her family members only so that they can target those who make physical relationship with her for money. The family used to lodge complaints against their targets and later used to settle the matters after taking money. After establishing the evidence in this case, we have arrested four family members of the girl including her father, two uncles, and a cousin.”
“In the previous two instances, the accused family members of girl have extorted huge amounts from two persons”, said SP Astha.
“On Wednesday, four accused were presented in the court, which granted their two-day police remand for further investigation. Our teams will recover the amount extorted by the girl’s family members from two persons and further investigation into this case is on”, said SP Astha.
