YAMUNANAGAR: Yamunanagar police on Monday claimed to have solved the blind murder case of a woman railway staffer, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on June 23 in Jagadhri.
The accused has been arrested.
Yamunanagar SP Kamaldeep Goyal said the accused, Mukesh Kumar, a resident of local Railway Colony, had been convicted in another murder case and was out on bail when he killed the woman.
Saroj Bala (55) of Railway Colony, a northern railway staffer at a canteen in Jagadhri Workshop was found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her allotted quarter on June 23 night.

Following on the complaint of her niece Richa Devi of Sugar Mill Colony, Yamunanagar, a case of murder was registered at Farakpur police station on June 23.
The police told during the preliminary investigation accused Mukesh confessed committing murder in an inebriated condition.
“In the primary interrogation, Mukesh disclosed that he drank with his brother-in-law on June 22 night. He told that in an inebriated condition, he went towards his home on his bicycle and was over-drunk. He said he knew that an elderly woman lives alone near his house, therefore, in a bid to rob her, he trespassed into her quarter after climbing the backside wall. Upon seeing him, the woman screamed and he said he attacked her with a concrete flower pot and she fell on the ground and he again attacked her with a piece of pot. He then pulled her towards the bedroom and searched her house and found Rs 300. Following in an attempt to murder, he again attacked the woman with an iron bucket in her head several times”, said Yamunanagar police.

“Mukesh said he was hungry and opened the refrigerator to find something to eat but could not find anything. He pulled the woman’s body into the refrigerator. Then he went to the kitchen and picked up a bottle of mustard oil which he attempted to put in the private parts of the deceased woman. He stayed overnight at the woman’s house and at 5am he fled from the back door”, further said the police.
The police said, “In 2011, Mukesh was earlier arrested in a murder case when along with his friend Sandeep alias Lukka had murdered one Amit Garhwali of Railway Colony, Jagadhri Workshop due to old rivalry. In 2013, both were convicted for murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. But in 2017, he came out of jail after securing bail from the Punjab and Haryana high court.”
