One accused in Ambala firing incident arrested, sent on five-day remand

Ambala police crime investigation agency (CIA)-2 on Thursday night arrested an accused Shammi ‘Pandit’ of Kacha Bazar, Ambala Cantonment who was involved in firing incident that took place in Topkhana area of Ambala Cantonment on Wednesday night.

AMBALA: Ambala police crime investigation agency (CIA)-2 on Thursday night arrested an accused Shammi ‘Pandit’ of Kacha Bazar, Ambala Cantonment who was involved in firing incident that took place in Topkhana area of Ambala Cantonment on Wednesday night.
On Friday, accused Shammi was presented before Ambala court which granted him five-day police remand with CIA-2.
In the firing incident, three persons including Jeetu ‘Divakar’, Manish, and Sachin Verma ‘Sonu’ all residents of Ambala Cantonment were injured and on Wednesday.
On the complaint of Sachin, a case was registered against five identified and other unidentified accused at Ambala Cantonment police station.
Meanwhile Sachin, Manish and Jeetu were referred to Ambala Cantonment civil hospital, from where Manish and Jeetu were referred to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Sector 12, Chandigarh for treatment.
Those booked were identified as Saurav ‘Mau’, Arjan ‘Ajju’, Pandit ‘Shammi’, Randhir of Tundla and Aman ‘Appu’ of Kishan Colony – besides two or three others unidentified accomplices.
“On Thursday late night, Shammi was arrested and was taken on five-day police remand from Ambala court on Friday. We are investigating this case and his accomplices are being traced out. We are hopeful of making more arrests soon”, told inspector Aman Kumar, SHO, CIA-2.

On the other side, Ambala Cantonment police station on-duty SHO inspector Sunil Kumar said, “Sachin was discharged from Ambala hospital after the treatment while Jeetu and Manish are still undergoing treatment at PGIMER, Sector 12, Chandigarh. Their condition is out of danger and our teams are investigating the case.”
The Ambala police told Jeetu alias Divakar came out on bail from jail on Wednesday as he was arrested in connection with a case of kidnapping and assault of accused Saurav.
Ambala superintendent of police (SP) Abhishek Jorwal said, "In an attempt to take revenge for kidnapping and assault, Saurav alias Mau conspired about this attack on Jeetu and his friends."
Around 7-8 youths had ambushed at a Maruti Alto car on Wednesday night in a busy market area of Topkhana in Ambala Cantonment, injuring the three and they fled the spot on motorcycles. The incident got recorded in several CCTV cameras installed in the market area.
