At a time when local businesses are suffering the most amid the
pandemic, the group
GurgaonMoms is now helping its
women entrepreneurs to reach out to the community members through live sessions with the aim of supporting their businesses. Neela Kaushik, Founder, GurgaonMoms, shares that mom entrepreneurs who are part of the community mentioned how these times have been disastrous to their businesses.
“In our effort to support serious entrepreneurs, we have been organising Facebook live sessions,” she says.
There are two such initiatives that they have started to support local businesses. “In KnowHerBusiness (one such initiative), we give the mom
entrepreneur an opportunity to talk about her business and explain how members can reach out to avail services. In MammaLiya, the moms are invited fortnightly to sell their curated items at special prices available during the golden hours. This format has generated a lot of interest in the members. This also becomes an excellent opportunity for mom entrepreneurs to get their brand name out and serve newer customers,” she shares.
For entrepreneurs, the platform has actually given them an opportunity to revive their businesses. Shweta Rai from Krishak Agritech says, “I was a part of #MammaLia, and I got a very positive response from the community. My start-up is about supplying essentials which are procured from farmers. I also see a sense of consciousness in customers who are trying to help each other during this time.”
Ravina Sodhi from Ravina Photography, who has been helping and organising webinars to teach mom entrepreneurs photography with regards to their business and for their social media, shares, “I have been conducting webinars in helping these entrepreneurs to click pictures of their own products. I have also been guiding them to do the same without being physically present there. These are
small businesses that have no backing, so I have seen a very positive response within the community regarding this.”
Neela also points out that these tough times have brought the community closer. She says, “#VocalforLocal is not just a catchy phrase but sincerely followed by many. Members have been reaching out to find out fellow members who are dealing with the products that they need.”
