CHANDIGARH: Former Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar, who quit the party ahead of 2019 assembly elections, on Sunday announced that he would form a political alternative to weed out the Congress and the BJP from the state.
Tanwar announced the setting up of a third front in Haryana during a public meeting organised by his supporters to mark his 44th birthday in Karnal. He, however, did not give a name for the front and said it would be declared in three months.
Two former presidents of Haryana BSP, Naresh Saran and Parkash Bharti, former MPs and saints of Ravidassia and other communities joined Tanwar’s function called ‘Swabhiman Diwas’.

Former Sirsa MP Tanwar said BJP roped in Jannayak Janata Party to come back to power in the state as there was no alternative. “There is no opposition by Congress anywhere. Instead, Congress leaders are supporting BJP for one or another reason. Hence, their agitations against BJP for Dalits are merely a drama. What stopped them from challenging this in court? Now, all these parties as well as their leaders stand exposed,” said Tanwar. He gave examples of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, UP, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal where Congress was struggling to make a comeback due to strong regional fronts.
