GUWAHATI: Assam Police CID has been roped in to probe the alleged murder of a 53-year-old woman teacher whose body was recovered from a private school, nearly 1.5 km from her residence, at Kalaigaon in Udalguri district of Assam.
Police said the deceased, identified as one Nayantara Saharia, was a resident of Kalaigaon College Road. He went missing on Monday and the family the matter in the local police station the same evening.
The incident triggered sensation in the area.
Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked the state police to conduct a thorough investigation.
DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Wednesday tweeted, “As directed by Hon’ CM Sh @sarbanandsonwal, @AssamCid officers & forensic experts dispatched to assist @udalguripolice in C No 65/20; relating to the dead body of a lady that was found in UN Academy, Kalaigaon. No stone will be left unturned to bring the culprits to book.”
The CID team visited the spot where the body was found on Wednesday and investigation is on, police said.
