GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam continued to improve with water receding at most places, even though 1.43 lakh people in 15 districts remained affected by the deluge on Wednesday.
However, no death was reported for the second consecutive day.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in their bulletin that Goalpara remained the worst-hit district with around 86,000 people affected, followed by Morigaon and Bongaigaon where 16,042 and 8,000 people are reeling under the floods respectively.

On Sunday, 19 districts were submerged and 8.54 lakh people were hit by the calamity.
This year’s floods and landslides have claimed 136 lives across the state so far. While 110 people died in flood-related incidents, 26 were killed in landslides. The bulletin said 270 villages and over 21,000 hectares of cropland are still under water.
The authorities are running 19 relief camps and distribution centres in six districts where over 3,000 people are lodged. The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger mark at Dhubri town and at Neamatighat in Jorhat district, while its tributaries Jia Bharali is so flowing above the red mark at various places.
