Assam: Jorhat relaxes lockdown

The Jorhat district magistrate and chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, Roshni Aparanji Korati, on Monday passed orders relaxing some of the lockdown rules.

JORHAT: The Jorhat district magistrate and chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, Roshni Aparanji Korati, on Monday passed orders relaxing some of the lockdown rules.
After the order was issued, people reached government offices, bus stands were filled up and business establishments saw a gush of activities. A large number of private vehicles, too, returned to the roads, while buses carrying passengers from other districts also reached Jorhat.
In the order, Korati said, “In pursuance of the government order, malls and gymnasiums are allowed to operate between Monday and Friday on both sides of the street.
Hotels are allowed to operate with strict maintenance of Covid-19 protocols. All central and state government offices, including banks, insurance companies, NBFCs etc, are allowed to operate with 100% attendance except pregnant women. Non- contact sports in open space with social distancing has also been allowed.”
Korati added, “Inter-district movement of people is also allowed on Monday and Tuesday and no separate permission/ approval/ e- permit will be required for inter-district movement.”
“The weekend total lockdown on Saturday and Sunday will continue as per earlier order. Persons above 65 years of age and children below the age of 10 years are advised to stay indoors except for unavoidable health reasons,” the order read.
In Jorhat district about 2,300 people have tested positive for Covid-19 till Monday evening. Seven persons have died in the district, while about 1,300 patients are undergoing treatment.
