Covid-19 deaths in Assam increased to 15 after a 40-year-old male patient of Koliabor in Nagaon, who was admitted in Guwahati Medical College and Hospital on July 1 succumbed to the infection on Tuesday morning.

GUWAHATI: Covid-19 deaths in Assam increased to 15 after a 40-year-old male patient of Koliabor in Nagaon, who was admitted in Guwahati Medical College and Hospital on July 1 succumbed to the infection on Tuesday morning.
Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “He was on invasive ventilation and had severe pneumonia and septic shock.”
The cumulative positive cases of the state raced to 12,522 following a spike of 786 cases in last 24 hours, of which 598 cases were from Guwahati.
On the brighter side 449 patients have also recovered and discharged in last 24 hours leaving 4623 active cases in various hospitals.
The state labs are closing in on the five lakh mark in terms tests done. Sarma tweeted, “We are fast moving towards the 5 lakh testing mark. Our testing figures reached 471,221 today. Together we have to win this battle and targeted tracking & testing form the core of our strategy. Do support our incredibly committed teams, out day & night for testing.”
