BELAGAVI/BENGALURU: With talks of BS Yediyurappa planning to expand his cabinet in the coming days, another minister from Belagavi Ramesh Jarkiholi is headed for Delhi for likely talks with BJP national president JP Nadda and others.
Earlier last week, deputy chief minister Laxman Savadi and women and child welfare minister Shashikala Jolle also rushed to Delhi, reportedly fearing loss of their cabinet berths.
On Sunday, Jarkiholi’s office said the minister is scheduled to leave for the capital in the night.
While officially, the minister is supposed to hold talks with the Union Jal Shakti ministry on the Upper Bhadra project and other irrigation schemes, it is said he’s likely to meet Nadda on the possibility of either one or two Belagavi-based ministers losing cabinet berths.
Although Jolle has dismissed rumours of losing her post, she had a meeting with Jarkiholi on Sunday morning, urging him to put in a good word with the central leadership when he’s likely to meet them on Monday. Sources say Jolle may lose the post in view of her ‘poor performance.’ “Jolle, considering Ramesh’s proximity to chief minister BS Yediyurappa, met the minister and requested him to speak to both the CM and the high command not to remove her from the cabinet,” said a party functionary.
Sources said Ramesh is keen on seeing deputy chief minister Laxman Savadi out of the cabinet and hence, joined hands with MLA Umesh Katti. Katti was confident he would be inducted and said there are about six aspirants for cabinet berths.
“Apart from me, names of MTB Nagaraj, H Vishwanath, Aravind Limbavali, S Angara and Sunil Kumar are being discussed. Some may have to lose their posts. Rather than cabinet expansion, Yediyurappa has to go for a reshuffle,” he said.
