BENGALURU: After a deep plunge in April and May, property registration has seen an uptick in the state, reaching 74% of the revenue collected in June last year and 85% in July.
While revenue collection from commercial taxes, motor vehicle tax and excise have been severely hit, property registration activity across the state, and mainly in Bengaluru, has surged in the past two months.
"The daily revenue generated by the department is headed towards normal now.
The revenue generation is expected to become normal in 2-3 months," said a senior official of the revenue department.
Official data shows revenue collection stood at Rs 745 crore in June, against Rs 1,009 crore in the corresponding month last year.
In July, Rs 607 crore revenue was generated, against Rs 710 crore last year - despite the weeklong lockdown restrictions observed in Bengaluru and two other districts following a rapid increase in fresh Covid-19 cases. The lowest revenue received during the year so far was in April, at Rs 29 crore.
