Karnataka: Psychiatrist files PIL urging bars and liquor shops should be opened for few hours a day

City-based psychiatrist Dr Vinod Kulkarni has moved a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) at the Karnataka high court requesting that liquor shops be kept open for few hours a day as the non-availability of the alcohol due to the 21-day nationwide lockdown is causing suicides by the gullible.

HUBBALLI: City-based psychiatrist Dr Vinod Kulkarni has moved a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) at the Karnataka high court requesting that liquor shops be kept open for few hours a day as the non-availability of the alcohol due to the 21-day nationwide lockdown is causing suicides by the gullible.
The petition was filed under the aegis of late GB Kulkarni Memorial Legal Trust on April 5.
The PIL will be heard on Tuesday by a high court bench through video conference. Dr Vinod Kulkarni will be appearing on the behalf of the legal trust, said a press release.
